Because... It's Homemade!

Hello everyone!

I was sitting at home a few nights ago and was craving taco salad. I had all the ingredients except the usual taco seasoning that I use. So, I ended up Googling for a homemade recipe version. This is what I found...

Taco Seasoning Mix

Ingredients

    1 tbsp Chili Powder
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp paprika
    1/4 tsp garlic powder
    1/4 tsp onion powder
    1/4 tsp dried oregano
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

Combine all the spices in a bowl and keep in an airtight container in a cool dry place until ready to use.

To Make Taco Meat:

Brown 1 pound ground beef with 1/2 of a white onion, diced until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain any fat and return skillet to stove top. Add in 2 1/2 tbsp of seasoning mix (one recipe) along with 1/4 cup of water. Stir until combined and water has reduced.

 Homemade Ketchup with Honey

Ingredients
  1. 12 oz. tomato paste*
  2. 1/2 c. honey.
  3. 1 c. vinegar.
  4. 1/2 c. water (or more, for a thinner consistency)
  5. 2 tsp. salt.
  6. 1/2 tsp. onion powder.
  7. 1/4 tsp. garlic powder.

  2. In a slow cooker, combine onion, bell pepper, celery, condensed gumbo soup, tomato paste and brown sugar. Stir in lemon juice, mustard, ketchup, barbeque sauce and vinegar. season with Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, parsley, black pepper and salt. Stir in browned beef.
  3. Cover, and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Skim off excess fat.
This sparked the theme for this post.

Hmmm, when I clicked on the 'Solid and Worn Papers' link it came up as the elements once again. This is a beautiful addition to the blog train so would hate to miss out on some of the gorgeous papers! Thanks so much for sharing you time and talent with us all. :D Hugs, Vicki

Hi Crystal
Just wanted to let you know there is a problem with your links. Two of them are the same. Worn papers and the elements are both elements, no worn papers.

Thanks for such lovely goodies!

Hi,
Your kit is beautiful! Thanks!
It looks like both the solid and worn papers and the elements link to the same file. Should there be separate ones?
