Because... It's Homemade!

Hello everyone!

I was sitting at home a few nights ago and was craving taco salad. I had all the ingredients except the usual taco seasoning that I use. So, I ended up Googling for a homemade recipe version. This is what I found...

Taco Seasoning Mix

Ingredients

    1 tbsp Chili Powder
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp paprika
    1/4 tsp garlic powder
    1/4 tsp onion powder
    1/4 tsp dried oregano
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

Combine all the spices in a bowl and keep in an airtight container in a cool dry place until ready to use.

To Make Taco Meat:

Brown 1 pound ground beef with 1/2 of a white onion, diced until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain any fat and return skillet to stove top. Add in 2 1/2 tbsp of seasoning mix (one recipe) along with 1/4 cup of water. Stir until combined and water has reduced.

 Homemade Ketchup with Honey

Ingredients
  1. 12 oz. tomato paste*
  2. 1/2 c. honey.
  3. 1 c. vinegar.
  4. 1/2 c. water (or more, for a thinner consistency)
  5. 2 tsp. salt.
  6. 1/2 tsp. onion powder.
  7. 1/4 tsp. garlic powder.

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 6 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. In a large heavy skillet, cook ground beef until evenly brown; drain well.
  2. In a slow cooker, combine onion, bell pepper, celery, condensed gumbo soup, tomato paste and brown sugar. Stir in lemon juice, mustard, ketchup, barbeque sauce and vinegar. season with Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, parsley, black pepper and salt. Stir in browned beef.

Cozy Autumn

Hi again, welcome to my blog. I have a lovely digital scrapbooking kit for you for November this fall and a couple of pics. I've been at a friend's place and we made Norwegian potato lefse!

I'm adding a recipe as well. Cozy Autumn Wild Rice Soup! by http://Gimmesomeoven.com/

 Yum!

So tonight we made 3 dozen lefse and have several dozen to make tomorrow too. For those who are new to lefse, it is a flat bread, sort of tortilla, sort of crepe, but made out of potato. Yum!

Lots of work, and time consuming, but worth it!

Happy Thanksgiving peeps.

This month, Lori, of Moore Blessings Digital Designs, chose the theme, scripture and color palette.

Title: "In All Circumstances"

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Here are the rest of the stops to this month's blog train...
Enjoy!

Once again,
thanks for all of your sweet comments!

And... God's Word for this September

God's Word ... September 2018 We Believe Bog Train features Psalms 119:89.

Psalm 119:
89
Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

The theme and colors this month was chosen by Anne-Marie. She gave us the Charpter in Psalms, then we were to choose a passage verse. I chose verse 89 as above. I loved working in these nuetral type colors. It came out just lovely! Thank you Anne-Marie.

And.. It's my birthday tomorrow...Sunday the 16th. So happy, happy hunting!

Two by Two a Noah's Arc Story

Hi,

What wild weather we have had here this weekend. It started Friday afternoon with wild thunder storms with hail and strikes of lightning. Not so bad but I wanted to be on my desktop computer at the time for an online Bingo at my haunt, GoDigitalScrapbooking.com. It transitioned into an ice storm as the evening continued and the tempuatures dropped. Then some snow with stuck to the ice.

I had to work Saturday so I started my car 40 min. before my shift to soften up all of that ice and stuff. It softened up a bit then I had to scrape and scrape. sigh.

When I went to work yesterday about noon it was coming down as mini hail or sleet pellets.

I scraped mycar off again after work and barely made it home from work. The roads were terrible! Especially in the intersections and stop lights. I was tempted to not stop and barrel through. Egads!

Now I'm preparing for more of the same in white out conditions this morning for another shift at the electronics store that I currently work at. OY!

To lighten the day I have cute Noah's Arc kits for you. I hope that you enjoy our blog train this month.

Introduction to Digital Scrapbooking

INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL ART FOR PRINTING
TUTORIAL
BY
CRYSTAL JOHNSON

My journey into digital art and digital scrapbooking began about ten years ago. I was raising my son and working fulltime when I realized that I had little to no time to myself and I soon concluded that I needed a crafty hobby. I was looking on-line and googling several different crafts when I ran across scrapbooking. Upon googling this genre further an add for a current scrapbooking software came up for the digital version of scrapbooking called digital scrapbooking. I was soon hooked.

Then a couple years later, I self-taught myself to create my own digital scrapbook kits of various 12” x 12“ papers and elements at 300 ppi (300 dpi for printing) and started to sell the designs in various online websites and communities.

In this tutorial I am going to demonstrate creating a typical digital scrapbooking layout using standard graphics software from Adobe photoshop. The standard size for scrapbooking is 12” x 12“, but due to modern home printing capabilities I am choosing this project as a standard 8.5” x 11” letter sized paper in vertical portrait view.

There are also tons of websites to support this hobby and I will be introducing you to several of these as well.

* A special thank you to Becky Fleck from www.pagemaps.com
